Martin Brabbins' RVW! Symphony Cycle Vol. 5 is No. 6 & No. 8! The fifth volume of the RVW Symphony Cycle features No. 6 & No. 8, which were selected as "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone magazine. The cycle also includes rare vocal works such as "English Folk Songs". The fifth cycle of the Vaughan Williams cycle includes the controversial "Symphony No. 6," also known as the "War Symphony," a work that seems to reflect World War II, although the composer himself denied any influence from that period, and "Symphony No. 6," a work that is also known as the "War Symphony," and a work by the conductor, Martin Brabbins, who has taken on the important role of music director of the English National Opera since 2016. Symphony No. 6," a work that has been called a "war symphony," and "Symphony No. 8," a work dedicated to conductor John Barbirolli and containing classical elements. Other highlights include "British Folk Songs" with the BBC Symphony Chorus, and the renowned British baritone, winner of the 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Prize, artistic director of the Leeds Leader Music Festival 2016, and known in Japan for his regular performances with the Bach Collegium Japan, The program is enriched by rare vocal pieces such as "England My England" with Roderick Williams. The RVW cycle has been in great form, having been selected as "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone magazine for Volumes 1 through 3 in a row, and Volume 4 was selected as "Critics' Choice" of the same magazine and nominated for the Gramophone Award 2021, and has been praised in the Record Art "Overseas Disc REVIEW" as well.
