Since Tchaikovsky conducted the inaugural performance in 1891, Carnegie Hall, America's world-class music hall of fame, has produced numerous masterpieces. Since then, Carnegie Hall has hosted more than 46,000 performances, including many of the greatest names in classical and pop music. Carnegie Hall was built in 1890 by steel magnate Andrew Carnegie and was named after him. To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Hall's opening this year, 2016, two major American labels, RCA RedSeal and Sony Classical (formerly Columbia Records - CBS), have released recordings made at the Hall, from the New York Philharmonic conducted by Toscanini in 1931 to Denis Matouev in 2007. ) have recorded at the hall, and now the anniversary box contains 43 CDs of live recordings made by the two major American labels, RCA RedSeal and Sony Classical (formerly Columbia Records - CBS).This release was made possible with the full cooperation of Carnegie Hall, and the LP-size, all-color, 105-page separate volume of commentary includes many rare and valuable photographs, including programs, posters, and artist photos of the relevant concerts preserved in the Hall's archives.
