Ian Faquini, a guitarist/arranger of Ginga descent, who has also worked with female singer Paula Santoro under the name of "Duo", has released a new duo album with Natalie Cressman, a female singer and trombone player. The songs are all written by Ian Faquini, with lyrics by Natalie on three songs, Iara Feheira on four songs, and Jogerio Santos on two songs, all at a high level. The opening track, "L'Aube," with Natalie's soprano voice and French lyrics, has the solemnity of church music, and "L'Aube," with Ruy the Lacerda's masterpiece, "ME," has the same quality. Lenga lenga", which was also provided for Luiza Lacerda's masterpiece "Meia Volta", "Debandada", which has a memorable intro with multiple recorded female voices, and "L'Aube", which has a quiet trombone tone and a rehearsal-like lullaby. The long, quiet trombone tone and rehearsal-like roughness of "Mandingueira" create the intimacy of the ensemble, and the last song, "Sereia," which was also performed as a duo with Paula Santoro, is a perfect example of the two musicians' ability to create a unique sound. ....The variety of ideas that make you feel that it is just the two of them, the highly accomplished ensemble with its breathtaking combinations, and Fakinis' wonderful compositions that seem to combine Ginga's romanticism with Minas's transparency.
