Iconic frontman of the legendary 70's band Buzzcocks Pete Shelley's two solo albums will be reissued! As the opening act for the Sex Pistols and Nirvana, the Buzzcocks were a prominent presence during the hottest and most intense punk movement of the 1970s. Their iconic frontman, whose exceptional pop sensibility and catchy melodies set them apart from other bands in the punk context, was Pete Shelley, who sadly passed away in 2018. His two solo titles, "Homosapien" and "XL1," which are being reissued this time, were released after the Buzzcocks' breakup in 1981, and are masterpieces by a man who had gone through new wave and punk, sharpening his own pop sensibilities and surrendering himself to new styles like techno and synth pop. Released in 1982, "Homosapien" was overshadowed by the Human League's "Dare" and its smash hit "Don't You Want Me," both of which were released shortly thereafter, and did not receive the recognition it deserved. Released at a time when synthpop was at its peak, both albums were produced by Martin Rushant and recorded in the same studio. However, the title track of this album, "Homosapien," was banned by the BBC, and the spotlight at the time turned completely to the Human League.The song "Homosapien," which was banned from the airwaves, was released as an advance single in 1981, and the 12-inch version released included a 9-minute dub version of the song, and this reissue includes that rare dub and many other rare tracks.
