Formed in 1969 by Cliff Jackson (vo/g) and Jim McGillivray (drs) from the UK and Bernd Kolbe (b/vo/mellotoron) from Germany, this German hard rock band is still active over 50 years after their debut. CD1 is a compilation of two early albums released while the band was with Polydor and a large number of bonus tracks from their debut album, "EPITAPH" and "MELLOTORON". CD1 contains the two albums "EPITAPH" and "STOP LOOK AND LISTEN" released from Polydor in '71 and '72, respectively, and CD2 contains singles released between '71 and '73 that were not included on the original albums, demos that were also included on the reissue CD of "EPITAPH", and a CD of songs from the 1972 German music TV program "Beat Club" that were recorded for broadcast. CD1 is newly remastered by Roger Wahlmann (planned).The '71 album is based on bluesy and melodic hard rock with twin guitars, and has a strong art-rock feel with lyrical and jazzy development. Both of these albums showcase a sound that shines with "weepy" melodies that are strongly influenced by the British hard rock of the time, such as WISHBONE ASH. Although the hard rock flamboyance of this album is not as strong as the other albums, the chorus is superb, with an elegant British sound, and the wet melancholy of this European band is very heartwarming.
