Description:

The latest, high-quality reissue of a Mozart competition disc featuring the famous principal players who led SKD until the early 1960s and a collection of German works by Peter Damm! New reissue from the original ETERNA analog tapes. Some of the recordings are on SACD for the first time in the world! Mastered only in analog domain and directly converted to DSD! This is the 16th SACD hybrid reissue of the original ETERNA analog tapes in Japan, featuring Mozart's Concerto Symphony K.297b (Anh. C14.01) performed by the principal woodwind players of the Staatskapelle Dresden until the 1960s, as well as the 1983 The other three works are new couplings of three German works from the SKD horn section's 1983 album "Romantic Horn Works" led by Peter Damm, excluding Saint-Saens' Concert Pieces for horn and orchestra. All but Mozart were previously released on SACD hybrid discs in 2004. The Mozart is one of SKD's best performances, a sequel to our "Mozart: Concertos for Wind Instruments (0301781BC)" reissued in April 2021, but the aforementioned recordings were mainly made in the 1970s with the main orchestra members, and the 1961 recording is one generation earlier.Although it was just at the time of the switch from monaural to stereo recording, the clear and resonant core of the recording by the famous engineer C. Streuben remains in excellent condition even today, and is a valuable source of information that conveys to us today the traditional tone of the SKD that continued from that time. Switner, who became chief conductor just the year before the recording, conducts with great vigor. The cover of this issue shows the coupling "Concerto for Flute and Harp" recorded in 1975, but as mentioned above, this piece has already been released on another album (0301781BC), so it is not included in this issue.
