Description:

All world premiere recordings! The Spanish pianist Melani Mestre, who boasts an extremely rare repertoire of concertos by Spanish composers, is now also available on the Hensler label! This time, the world premiere recordings of three piano concertos and a violin concerto by three Spanish composers active in the 18th and early 19th centuries! All are reconstructions of the works by Melani Mestre from their respective manuscripts. Manuel Naro (1729-1776), born in Valencia, was a member of the local choir as a child and entered church school at age 9. Later, he was taught by Father Francisco Vicente and succeeded to his position after the death of his teacher; in 1761, he was offered the position of organist at the cathedral in Valencia, but resigned a few months later due to ill health. His Concerto in G major for harpsichord (clavier) and orchestra is a very rhythmical work in three movements (fast - slow - fast). Mariana Martinez (1744-1812) was a female composer who was born in Vienna, later emigrated to Spain, and then exiled to Naples after the war. It is said that Franz Joseph Haydn was her neighbor in Vienna, where she lived as a child. Her piano concerto has Austrian characteristics, but the form has an Italian feel, somewhat reminiscent of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Composer José Palomino (1755-1810), who studied under Antonio Rodríguez de Ita (1722-1787), was a violinist in the Madrid orchestra in 1770. He had a long career at the Cathedral of Las Palmas on the Canary Island. The Piano Concerto in G major (originally for pianoforte (or harpsichord) and strings (or quintet)) was written in 1785, at the height of Spanish and Portuguese Classicism. It is reminiscent of Mozart's early works. King International
