Description:
Baroque violinist Laila Scheiek, who is gaining more and more popularity and attention, plays Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's works with Jörg Halbeck, a young star of the German classical music world who also played with her on J.S. Bach's Violin Sonatas (GCD923507). This is a collection of works by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. As a representative of the multisensorial style, he laid the foundation of classical music, and it is said that in the 18th century, "the great Bach" often referred to C.P.E. Bach rather than his father, J.S. Bach. The album includes Brahms' two violin sonatas with a very unusual score in which he realizes the bass passages, as well as other major works for violin and keyboard. Halbeck plays both harpsichord and tangent piano (a keyboard instrument that originated in the early 18th century with a structure somewhere between harpsichord and fortepiano), depending on the work.
