The Sixteen New Recordings! The Sixteen, the treasures of the British choral world! The Sixteen, celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2019, are the world's greatest choral harmony ensemble, and their first release of 2022 will be a program from one of the core events of their UK tour, the Choral Pilgrimage. The first release of 2022 will be "An Old Belief," a program from one of the Sixteen's core events, the Choral Pilgrimage tour of the United Kingdom. The centerpiece of the program is Hubert Parry's masterpiece, "Farewell Song," which ranks among some of the finest choral works ever written. Parry's deep sadness over World War I, which resulted in the loss of many students at the Royal College of Music, led him to seek a poem that reflected peace and unity, the search for a better world and an escape from the horrors of war, and the text was taken from John Dunn, Henry Vaughan, Thomas Campion, Psalms, and others.In this choral pilgrimage program, the rich sound of Parry's songs is complemented by selections from famous medieval carols, three short works by Thomas Campion (English Renaissance composer and poet), and a new work by one of the most celebrated contemporary English composers, Cecilia MacDowall ( b.1951) will be complemented by a new work by Tokyo M-Plus
