A collection of solo cantatas by Bejune Mehta, a natural countertenor who combines power and clarity! American countertenor Bejune Mehta made his PENTATONE debut in May 2017, recording solo cantatas from Germany, Italy, and England, including Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel with the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music. Born in the U.S. in 1968 as Zubin Mehta's cousin, Bejune is a gifted talent who was also the producer of Starker's fifth recording of Bach's unaccompanied cello suites, and has been the focus of international attention since that time, with George Benjamin writing an opera with him in the lead role. His debut recording on Harmoniumundi, a collection of Handel's opera arias (HMA1902077), brought him to the attention of the world, and he has performed with Jacobs and other prominent performers. Meter is a natural countertenor with the strength and transparency of a male singer, and his singing is crystal clear in the upper register and natural in the lower register.A highly anticipated album containing his best works with the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, with whom he has collaborated for many years.
