Doktur Niko, the "God of Guitar" who changed the history of Congolese music. This is the definitive anthology of the golden age of his band, African Fiesta Schisa! African Fiesta Sukisa, featuring his brother Dechaux and other great singers such as Chantre, Miseret, Lessa Lassan, and Josquie, recorded about 280 songs between 1966 and 1975. With rumba lingala as its foundation, the group's repertoire expanded to include kirikiri, chachacha, pachanga, merengue, bolero, and the traditional music of the Luba people, making it a central figure in Congolese music both in name and reality. This 3-CD analog (+digital) anthology, "Doktur Nico Presents African Fiesta Sukisa 19661974," is a compilation of Sukisa's music. In addition to his best-known songs, the collection also includes a number of treasured recordings that have not been reissued for a long time, allowing listeners to experience Nico's creativity at its peak in a comprehensive way. Highly transparent clean tones, Hawaiian guitar-like float, piano-like arpeggios, and perfect sound selection - Nico's aesthetic of "putting the right sound in the right place at the right time" permeates the entire album. The production was prepared over several years by Planet Ilunga of Belgium with the full cooperation of the Nico family, including his eldest daughter Lillian, and features a 28-page LP-size booklet with song descriptions, testimonials, and numerous previously unpublished photographs, providing a multilayered portrait of Nico's musical innovations and personal history. Sound restoration was done by Peter de Wagtel and design by Alastair Johnston, and every detail has been carefully considered.
