Herb Alpert, a titan of the music world as a trumpeter/producer, leader of The Tijuana Brass, and co-founder of A&M Records, has announced the release of his new album, his first in about a year since his previous work, IN THE MOOD. While his recent works have featured his wife, Lani Hall, on vocals, this new album, *Come Fly with Me*, blends his beloved standard numbers with new compositions. The album includes seven new songs composed by Herb in 2014, such as "Night Ride," inspired by a Tito Puente-style rhythm he particularly likes; "Cheeky," born from a jam session with the band; and "Walkin' Tall," featuring a punchy reggae beat. On the other hand, among the standard numbers he covers are a groovy bossa nova arrangement of Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me," the classic jazz standard "Take The A Train," and even George Harrison's "Something"—released by A&M, the label he co-founded—presented in an arrangement featuring the electronic instrument EVI.
