In memory of flutist Aurèle Nicolet, who passed away in January 2016 at the age of 90, we are re-releasing one of his best recordings from his peak years, Mozart: Flute Quartets (former item number: TUDOR 701). Nicolet, a native of Switzerland, was principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic under Furtwängler, and after leaving the orchestra, he became a soloist, respected by many fans for his wide repertoire of music from baroque to contemporary music. The Munich String Trio is not flashy in the commercial sense, but it makes really solid and sincere music with violinist Ana Chumachenko as its leader, and she is a great match for Nicolle. This is a masterful performance that ranks high among the many recordings of Mozart's flute quartets. Tobu Land System
