Roberto Molinelli, conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Abruzzo, Italy, presents an exciting "Paganini in Jazz," a bold arrangement and orchestration of Niccolò Paganini's masterpiece "24 Caprices. Veteran Italian violinist Ettore Pellegrino on solo violin is joined by the Italian jazz trio Trio Nosso Brasil, specializing in Brazilian and South American music, for a free improvisation that also incorporates Latin American rhythms. The program includes an interesting experiment in which the "classical" and "jazz" versions of the same caprice are performed side by side, allowing the audience to enjoy a free and varied and fascinating Paganini performance that pays homage to classical, jazz, Latin, and even tango music.
