DYNAMIC's new series, Karajan in Italy, Vol. 1! Both recordings were made with the RAI Rome Symphony Orchestra, and both are probably the first recordings ever made. The Bach recording was made on December 21, 1953, according to records. Karajan was apparently attached to this piece and took it up in concert every decade or so, making a session recording with DG in 1975 and a video recording in 1984. It is also noteworthy that the soloists are famous singers such as Schwarzkopf and Gedda. Onegel's "Liturgical Style" was recorded on December 15, 1954, according to records. This is probably its first appearance. Karajan had just conducted the Vienna Symphony Orchestra just prior to this in November. He later made a session recording with DG in 1969, but Honegger's recordings themselves are extremely scarce, making this recording valuable. King International
