The year 2005 marks the 400th anniversary of the publication of "Don Quixote" (Part 1). This representative Spanish literary work by Miguel de Cervantes is officially titled "Don Quixote de la Mancha," but it is also associated with a number of musical works, including R. Strauss's symphonic poem "Don Quixote," Falla's "Pedro's Master's Puppet Play," and numerous romances in modern times. Unlike the approaches of R. Strauss and Falla, Savall has combined readings, romances, and instrumental pieces taken from the chapters that make up the main points of the story to create a vivid world of "Don Quixote" through the atmospheric music of the time. The result is a magnificent production of the vivid world of "Don Quixote".
