Brahms (1833-1897)
Description:
A collection of Brahms' masterpieces with fascinating arrangements by two contemporary composers. Detlif Granato, who studied with Henze and is known as the composer of numerous stage works such as "Caligula" and "Leviathan," reworked Brahms' late masterpiece "Four Solemn Songs" for bass and piano and added a "prelude" to each piece, He also added a "prelude" to each piece. Granath, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, like Brahms, says that his own personality, "the melancholy characteristic of northern Germany has a deep relationship with Brahms," and he has a deep feeling for this work as well. The piece is a sympathetic piece of music with a dramatic prelude (a kind of prologue). The world premiere of this work was performed by Kent Nagano with the Deutsches Symphonieorchester Berlin and Dietrich Henschel in 2005.Likewise, Granato's "Faraway Land" was inspired by Brahms' Fourth Symphony. However, when actually heard, it is an interesting piece filled with stormy acoustics more reminiscent of Richard Strauss's "Salome" than Brahms. The orchestral version of the Clarinet Sonata is a work that the Los Angeles Philharmonic commissioned Berio to arrange in 1986. Berio carefully incorporated the entire work into a full orchestral score without compromising the original and turned it into a 25-minute clarinet concerto. Olaly Ertz, who conducts the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, is the Estonian conductor on his second recording for the ONDINE label. He was later appointed Principal Conductor of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and from 2011 to 2014 he served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, among a wide range of other positions.
