Rameau & Respighi in piano version! Rameau's "Elegant Indian Countries", one of the representative works of the opera-barre genre popular in France during the Baroque period, arranged by Léon Roquet, a French arranger known for his transcriptions of Ravel and Debussy, and Respighi's "Quaint Dances and Arias for Lute", a work for string orchestra composed by Respighi based on melodies for the lute written in the old times. This disc includes Respighi's own four-hand piano version of the "Old-Fashioned Dances and Arias for Lute," a work for string ensemble composed based on a melody for lute written by Respighi in olden times. All of them are arranged in a style that follows the aesthetic of the time, long after the music was first composed, and invite us to rediscover Renaissance and Baroque music. The world premiere recording of the four-hand piano version of "Elegant Indian Countries" was made by the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
