Master trombonist Jørgen van Rijn records Pärt and Bach with the Camerata RCO on this SACD hybrid disc. Dutch trombonist Jørgen van Rijn (1975-), principal of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is a specialist in modern and baroque instruments, always exploring new repertoire and performing as a soloist. This is the new album by van Rijn. Arvo Pärt is the Bach of our time. The album is a must-have for all Bach fans.In this album, van Rijn juxtaposes the music of the "Cantor of St. Thomas" with that of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, who loved his works and wrote pieces such as "WennBach Bienen gezuchtet hatte" and "Collage uber BACH (Collage by BACH)". The music of Arvo Pärt will be performed side by side to explore the similarities and differences between the "Fratres" (brothers from different eras). Johann Sebastian Bach's work is "Concerto," an arrangement of the Italian composer's concertos for solo instruments and ensemble, arranged for solo keyboard. The three pieces will be performed in arrangements made by van Leyen, comparing the original works of the Marcello brothers and Vivaldi with Bach's arrangements.Pärt's "Fratres," "On the River Babylon," and "Interrupted Parallel" were arranged by van Leyen based on arrangements made by Christian Lindberg in the 1990s, and "Our Father in Heaven" for boy soprano and piano was arranged by Pärt at the request of Andreas Scholl. The performance of "Our Father in Heaven" for boy soprano and piano is based on the version for countertenor and strings arranged by Pärt at the request of Andreas Scholl and arranged by van Leyen. This is the world premiere recording of Pärt's four pieces in this configuration.
