Description:

A masterpiece that demonstrates the composer's solid abilities as a composer. Three works commissioned by Christian Lindberg! Swedish trombonist Christian Lindberg has been focusing on composing and conducting in recent years, and is increasingly being asked to compose for orchestras and players around the world. The album "Wolf in the Wilderness" contains three orchestral works commissioned by him. Wolf in the Wilderness" is a concerto for viola and orchestra commissioned by the Odense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark at the suggestion of Brazilian-born viola player Rafael Artino, who teaches at the Danish National Academy of Music in Odense and the Malmö Music Academy. The three movements, "No Man's Land," "Pleasant Sympathy," and "The Quest for Light," were written on the theme of loneliness, sympathy, and the struggle to survive, with the image of "a sad wolf trying to push away its sense of isolation." When the work was nearly complete, it was given a name that evoked "a beautiful story written by Hermann Hesse. The Tale of Galamanta was commissioned by the Latvian Concerti for a television project involving the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and a teenage dance group. It depicts young people's love and struggles in the imaginary small city of Garamanta, and is inspired by the movie "Dogville," which Danish director Lars von Trier said was inspired by Brecht's "Three-Penny Opera" as an important element. Peking Twilight was commissioned by the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra for its 100th anniversary concert. The title has a "surreal and poignant character," combining "Peking," the nickname of the city of Norrköping, and "twilight," which Lindberg said evokes a "poetic mood. The music was composed with material inspired by motifs from the "City of Norrköping" and the cheering songs of the Norrköping soccer team, of which Lindberg had been a fan since childhood.
