Cyril Aimée, who has become one of the most remarkable and talented singers of our time, in concert performance at Poisson Rouge, New York, August 2017!Born in 1984 in Fontainebleau, France. Born to a French father and a Dominican mother, he got his start by performing on street corners. However, she has been in the limelight at the Django Reinhardt Festival, had a rough concert at the Apollo Theater, and even performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Orchestra. Her stage presence, which is the result of such experience, has a certain air of dignity about it. However, her world is always neutral. It is characterized by an unpretentious, naturalness. Manouche's swingy rhythms and precise vocals are only exciting in a live setting, and at this show, the audience is in the best of hands with the familiar regular band members, led by Adrien Moignard, the famous guitarist with whom she has played together for many years, and their outstanding sense of unity. The audience will be in high spirits. The concert started with "It's A Good Day," the title track of the first Mack Avenue album. The performance was a joyous one. Aimée's singing was free and expressive, and she breathed perfectly with her band members. The superb electric solo intertwined with the light cutting of the acoustic guitar is also a treat to listen to, and the opening alone is enough to grab your attention. The original M2 by Aimée in esprit French and M3 by Sidney Bechet are stylish.On the other hand, the vocals in the well-known standard number M7 "Day by Day" will "wow" even the jazz vocal fans of the past. The audience cheered and clapped their hands to the beat. The venue was filled with cheers and hand-clapping. The band members are taking a break from performing together, and this will be their last performance. Cyril Aimée, who had been based in Brooklyn from France, has moved to New Orleans. However, this is a departure that Cyril dares to choose in order to gain new inspiration and energy! The photos in the booklet inserted in the album show the band's groove and the friendly atmosphere of the day. The last song, "Each Day," a classic from Mack Avenue's second album, "Let's Get Lost," finishes the show with a bit of melancholy and a touch of nostalgia. It is a shame to see the band go on hiatus, but the future of this talented singer is very much to be looked forward to.
