Tropical Dandy", a classic album released in 1975 by Haruomi Hosono, one of Japan's leading musicians, will be released for the first time on analog vinyl overseas by Stones Throw to celebrate its 50th anniversary! This will be the first time that "Tropical Dandy" has been reissued internationally. The Stones Throw international edition will be pressed in the U.S. and released in 180 gram weight vinyl (high sound quality) in two versions: an exclusive limited edition ocean blue color and a standard black vinyl version. It is available in an exclusive ocean blue color and a standard black vinyl version. The original obi and an inner sheet with English translation of the liner notes by Haruomi Hosono from 1975 and photos are also included. This is the second collaboration between Stones Throw and Haruomi Hosono, following "Hosono House Revisited," a compilation of reinterpretations of Hosono's solo debut by Mac DeMarco, Sam Gendel, John Carroll Kirby and others. Hosono House Revisited. Known overseas as a cult classic, the album is a cross-genre fusion of exotica, jazz, and pop that helped Haruomi Hosono lay the groundwork for Japanese city pop.Van Dyke Parks, a longtime fan, says, "During Hosono's pan-Pacific musical adventures, I've been around him for light years. It is a blend of sonic textures and cinematic romance". Haruomi Hosono was born in Tokyo in 1947 and was a founding member of the legendary folk-rock band Happy End and the innovative electronic trio Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO). Haruomi Hosono, "Harry Hosono," has also released numerous solo works and has freely fused a wide range of genres including exotica, funk, country, electronic, and ambient in a career spanning over 50 years. Two years after his first solo work, "HOSONO HOUSE" (1973), a record of an era that steered him toward a freer, more exotic and multinational sound, this second solo work, full of tropical sensations and hybridity, is an important work that marks the moment Japanese pop music connected to the world music map. This is a rare reissue of Haruomi Hosono's musical adventure, a turning point that led to the "Tropical Trilogy" and the formation of YMO, which can now be experienced once again.Haruomi Hosono still fascinates listeners around the world.
