It also features works accompanied by a cello solo by Leo Popwell, pursuing new possibilities for vocal expression. McDowell has received commissions from leading ensembles such as the BBC Singers and The Sixteen, and has won numerous awards. His long-standing creative work has been highly acclaimed, including winning the British Composers’ Prize (now the Ivor Novello Award) in 2014 and the prestigious Ivor Novello Award in 2020.
