New Frontier of Friend's Music: Norwegian orchestra, which also has a tradition of performing ancient music, takes on Schumann's symphonies with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. After Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schubert, Friend embarks on a cycle of Schumann symphonies. The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra will perform with the orchestra for the first time. The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1938 and is currently led by Andris Poga, with guest conductors including Kanellakis, Elas-Kassad, and Gaffigan. Since 1990, the orchestra has also deepened its knowledge of historical techniques by appointing Brüchen, Herreweghe, and Biondi, in that order, to the position of Artistic Director of Old Music. Friend, like Brüchen, started his career in the world of Dutch classical music, and is now active as a conductor all over the world. The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, which has Brüchen's sound in one aspect, will be played with empathy. The exciting Schumann is created by a performance that is well versed in historical techniques. The wind instruments' texture, which smells through the clear string tremolos, is very interesting.
