Description:
The clash between the influence of the latest Italian music and the overflowing individuality of the Dutch music scene in the 18th century. The city was also deeply connected with Italy, where instrumental music flourished, and many popular Italian composers published their works in Amsterdam. The Netherlands was, so to speak, the earliest place to come into contact with the latest Italian music, and this album of Dutch recorder music shows the great influence of Italian music. Wassenaer's (Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer) three sonatas for recorder and harpsichord are the centerpiece of the program. The sonatas were described by Wassenaer when he visited Paris and played them, as "exactly like the sonatas of Corelli," but they also bear the composer's unmistakable personality (unico i). The performance will be performed on five recorders and two types of harpsichord, each of which is appropriate for a particular sonata.The recording venue is an 18th century church in Holland, where the music and acoustics are in perfect harmony.
