Overture & Oboe Concerto by TelemannThe overture (suite) and oboe concerto by Telemann are the perfect program to enjoy the charm of Telemann (the reason why it is called "overture" even though it is a suite is because the entire suite is sometimes called "overture" when it has a French-style overture). The "Volker Overture (Suite)" is a delightful suite of pieces reminiscent of various regions, such as Turkey, Switzerland, and Portugal, which showcases Telemann's extensive study of styles from various countries. The other suites are also full of pieces that skillfully incorporate a variety of dance styles. In the oboe concerto, the beautiful tone of the virtuoso Bourdoyne, who has also played in the Quicken cantata series, is captivating. This is the first appearance of the Bach Concentus led by DeMeyer on CHALLENGE CLASSICS. King International
