The C minor Requiem by Cherubini recorded at the Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw, where Chopin's heart is enshrined, and the little-known Te Deum by Krupinski! Beautiful and rarely performed works by composers of Chopin's time are presented here in a flawless interpretation by Lux & Collegium 1704, a company that specializes in historically informed performances of these works. Luigi Cherubini's (1760-1842) "Requiem in C minor," said to have been written for the memorial service of Louis XVI, is known as a masterpiece of requiem, acclaimed by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms and others.Beethoven, who admired Kelbini, said that if he had been asked to write a requiem, he would have taken only Kelbini's music as a model, and he even hoped that the requiem would be performed at his funeral. He also wanted the Requiem to be played at his own funeral. The Requiem is a unique combination of Cherubini's artisanal compositional techniques, for which he is famous as the author of a textbook on counterpoint, and his originality in terms of sound, such as no soloist, no flute, use of viola, and use of gongs as an expression of fear, all of which are unique to the great master of opera and religious music. Please enjoy it together with the little-known Te Deum (composed for the coronation of King Nicholas I of Poland in 1829) by Karol Krupinski (1785-1857), a prominent Polish composer before Chopin.
