The pinnacle of work by Vivaldi expert Federico Maria Sardelli and Mode Antico! They have reconstructed Vivaldi’s lost masterpiece, the opera *La Fedeltà che Trionfa sul Vizio* (Chastity Triumphs Over Love and Hatred), recreating it as closely as possible to its original form at the time of its premiere! This scholarly project features Federico Maria Sardelli—renowned as a leading authority on Italian Baroque music, particularly Vivaldi—and Mode Antico, led by master violinist Federico Guillermo, who have restored Vivaldi’s lost masterpiece, the opera *Chastity Triumphant over Love and Hatred*, recreating its original form from the premiere as faithfully as possible. Written during the peak of Vivaldi’s creative career, the opera *Chastity Triumphant over Love and Hatred* was a huge success at its 1716 premiere in Venice and was repeatedly revived thereafter. However, all of the composer’s autograph scores have since been lost, and only transcriptions of about half of the music remain, scattered across various locations. Based on thorough research comparing manuscripts preserved in Berlin, Munich, and Berkeley Castle in England, as well as musical material reused in other operas, Sardelli has reconstructed the work as closely as possible to its state at the time of the 1716 premiere. In doing so, he refrained entirely from filling in the missing sections with new compositions, instead reconstructing the work using only the music written by Vivaldi himself. This approach revives the inherent brilliance of this opera—which, despite having only about half of its original music remaining, is brimming with diverse ingenuity—and reveals its true value to modern audiences.
