The Groundhogs, already popular in the U.K., embarked on their first U.S. tour in June 1972, and on June 8, just before the first day of the tour, a live studio recording was made for a WMC-FM radio broadcast at the legendary Ardent Recording Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The hot setlist, including songs from the masterpiece "SPLIT," is performed in a powerful and exciting way.Incidentally, Tony McPhee broke his wrist in the second half of this tour, leading to a radical overhaul of the band's musical approach and the subsequent collapse of the band's lineup, so this performance was the last time the Groundhogs, then the most exciting power trio in the UK, were captured in their prime. This is the last time the Groundhogs played at their peak, when they were one of the most exciting power trios in the UK. Remastered recording.
