Description:

The rich sound and virtuosity of the lute A rich collection of works from the peak of the lute's artistic maturity The virtuosity of virtuoso Miguel Rincon The rich sound of Il Pomo d'Oro's ensemble In the 17th century, the lute was the king of court instruments and a symbol of refined entertainment, but in the 18th century it was gradually overpowered by other string instruments, relegated to accompanying ensembles or as a duo instrument, and gradually went into decline. A small group of virtuosos and composers, however, did not accept this decline. They shifted the center of lute influence to the courts of Vienna, Bayreuth, and Dresden. The works produced in these places can be seen as the conclusion of the lute's illustrious history before it was replaced by the classical guitar. Miguel Rincon and Il Pomo d'Oro program concertos by Kohout, Fasch, and Kleinknecht (world premiere) and a trio by Hagen (also a first recording). Wonderful, inventive, and virtuoso works reveal the rich tonal and expressive power of the instrument in the last glow of its prominence. Miguel Rincon is a Basel-based lute player. He studied with Eguess and honed his skills in Lislevin's master classes, and is a talented player who can freely play everything from the medieval lute to the baroque guitar. In addition to performing with Bartoli's project, he has also performed at the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music, I Baroquisti, Musiciens du Louvre, Il Giardino armonico, and others. Il Pomo d'Oro is an Italian period-instrument ensemble (orchestra), whose principal conductor is Emelianichev, and was founded in 2012. APARTE
