Henze's engagement with the music of the past, which he strove to introduce by modernizing stage works by Monteverdi and Carissimi, has a freer and more interesting finish in the area of instrumental music. Here we have a beautifully elaborate adaptation of Vitali's Chaconne, an arrangement of Mozart's Church Sonata transferred to a 14-piece ensemble with harp and guitar, and an arrangement of C.P.E. Bach's Fantasy for keyboard, arranged for string quartet plus orchestra. ＜Anna Tiff (violin) was born in Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, to a Romanian father and Italian mother. She made her debut as a soloist with the Orchestre National de Loire at the age of 11, and won the Vittorio Veneto Competition in 1994, the Viotti Valseggia Competition in 1998, and the Marcello Abbado International Competition in 1999. She studied at the Academy Walter Stauffer in Cremona with Salvatore Accardo and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, graduating in 2004. With a scholarship from the Mozart Society of Dortmund, he studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Shmuel Ashkenazy, Pamela Frank, and Aaron Rosand. His main instrument is a 1739 Carlo Bergonzi "Mischa Piastro" on loan from the Fondazione Pro Canale in Milan. In 2007, Tief won the first prize at the Georges Enescu International Competition. Since then, he has performed internationally both as a soloist and in ensembles.＜Marco Angiulo has conducted the Ensemble Intercontemporain, London Sinfonietta, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Nancy, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Orchestre Sinfonica Nazionale RAI, Teatro La Fenice Orchestra, Orchestra of the Florence College of Music and Orchestra of the Teatro Nacional di Torino, Orchestra of the Teatro Bologna, Haydn Orchestra of Philharmonia, and Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi of Milan, and has appeared at the Venice Biennale Music Festival, Zagreb Biennale Music Festival, Ars Musica in Brussels, and Milano Musica, among others. Since September 2015, he has served as Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Padova Veneto Orchestra, conducting the complete Beethoven symphonies in 2016 and 2020.
