The sixth in the series, which has continued with Irene Joyce, Harriet Cohen, Irene Schaller, Myra Hess, and Maura Limpany, is the duo of Ethel Bartlett & Ray Robertson, who studied piano with Tobias Massey at the Royal Academy of Music in the 1910s. Ethel Bartlett (1896-1978) and Ray Robertson (1893-1956), who, after their marriage in 1921, moved to the U.S. in the 1930s, where they gave the American premieres of works by Poulenc and Stravinsky and developed and expanded the repertoire for two pianos. They were pioneers in the development and expansion of the two-piano repertoire.A reissue of rare recordings formerly released by NGS, Homocord, HMV, and English/American Columbia.
