LAWSHED, a Tokyo-based thrash metal band from the late 80's to the early 90's, finally reissued their second album released about a year after their last album. This is the second album released from Howling Bull Records in '92 by this four-piece thrash metal band based in Tokyo. Unlike the first album, which featured linear thrash music, the new album has a lower center of gravity and bluesy elements. The hard sound production brings out the bass and drums clearly, creating a dynamic work with a tight feel and a large scale. The opening track "Spirits & Souls," which opens with the sound of a blues harp, surprises fans with its thrashy guitar riffs and melodic vocals.The band's growth is evident in songs such as "BOY," with its heavy resonant guitar riffs and gang chorus, "ANIMALS," with its psychedelic phrases and blues harp, and "NOT A SAME AS PAPER," with its linear thrash guitar riffs and melodic solo that resonates comfortably. and "NOT A SAME AS PAPER," which features a linear thrash guitar riff and melodic solo. The two-part "MISUNDERSTANDING," which shows the influence of progressive rock, one of the band's roots, is the highlight of the album, clocking in at over 11 minutes. It is an ambitious work that challenges the possibilities of thrash metal. A bonus track, "Demo '89," a demo released on cassette in 1989, is also included.
