Miles Davis, the eternal king of jazz, will mark the 100th anniversary of his birth in 2026. To commemorate this occasion, three titles are being released as hybrid SACDs, featuring the latest remastered audio produced by master engineer Kevin Gray for Blue Note’s popular reissue series, “TonePoet” and “ClassicVinyl.” This marks the first-ever SACD release of these remastered recordings, and the release of *The Birth of Cool* on CD is also a world first, making this a truly valuable collection.
Compiled from three sessions recorded by the young Miles Davis for Blue Note, the set includes two tracks from 1952, three from 1953, and six from 1954. In the third session, widely regarded as the finest, he delivers a performance that is both beautiful and thrilling, backed by the trio of Horace Silver, Percy Heath, and Art Blakey. "It Never Entered My Mind" is particularly outstanding. It is on par with his famous later re-recording (the Prestige release *Working*).
