Yim Yoon-Chang, an 18-year-old pianist, became the youngest winner in competition history at the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Yim performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in E minor and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Marin Allsopp, the president of the jury, in the final round. The orchestra also won three awards: the Audience Award, based on the results of a popularity contest involving 30,000 classical music fans from around the world, and the Best Newcomer Award, given to the best performer of a contemporary piece. The video of the Rachmaninoff Concerto he performed in the finals has been viewed 8.8 million times. This is the first release after his victory, and includes a live recording of his performance of Beethoven's "Emperor" with the Gwangju Symphony Orchestra in October 2022.Also included is an orchestral piece dedicated to Gwangju by composer Yun Yi Sang, godfather of the Yun Yi Sang International Music Competition, which Yun Chang Yim won at age 15, and an encore piece performed by Yun Chang Yim.
