She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in more than 50 countries, has won numerous awards, and has had works written for her by composers such as James MacMillan and Michael Nyman. Mitchell has influenced new works by contemporary composers, and now she and her seven pianist friends (four of whom are composers) are engaged in a "conversation. The recorded works, many of which are world premiere recordings, explore a variety of themes, including depictions of natural phenomena, explorations of freedom, and love duets, offering a wide variety of music and moods. The album is also a tribute to pianist Androu Ball, who passed away in 2022, and opens with Lothorn's Sonata, recorded in 1996, honoring the partnership he established with her over two decades.
