Description:
Carissimi (1605-1674) was a composer of the Italian Baroque period. He is known for his achievement in establishing the oratorio form, but he also wrote many beautiful and exquisite works in a smaller form, the motet, in which the charm of the voice is fully demonstrated, and these are recognized as important works comparable to those of Monteverdi. Most of his scores were lost in the war, and research into his works is based on a few fragments, but the three-dimensional sound of his voice and instruments is enough to delight the ear of the listener. Consortium Carissimi is an ensemble founded in Rome in 1996. Recorded in 2015. (C)RS
