This is the last album in MARCO POLO's popular series of symphonies by MARIPIERO (1883-1973). The Italian neoclassical composer Maripiero wrote 11 numbered symphonies during his lifetime, as well as 3 early symphonies and 3 "unnumbered" symphonies in his middle period. The "Symphony of the Zodiac" was written in 1951, and its 12 parts successfully depict the changing moods of the four seasons. At the time, he seemed to have an aversion to the word "symphony" itself, a feeling that was not dispelled until No. 8 was written in 1964. The next piece he wrote, No. 9, is like Honegger's, in which the lively mood is interrupted by the trumpet.And No. 10, a work acclaimed by Hermann Scherchen and named after a goddess in Greek mythology.
