Description:

Master Kuna in his element! Remastered reissue from the original Tarra disc, vividly revived! Knappertsbusch's Bruckner and Wagner are the very essence of a master. His massive and huge music making cannot be imitated by anyone. The French Thala, which has devoted its energies to discovering the musical legacy of the great masters, has a full lineup and a fresh reissue! The sound quality is astonishing. No. 4" - The German Imperial Radio recorded this work on magnetic (magnetophonic) tape in 1944, which remained with the German Broadcasting Corporation, and Thala procured the sound source. Decca has a masterpiece recording with the Vienna Philharmonic, but the performance here with the Berlin Philharmonic under wartime conditions is tremendous. The dramatic, dynamic, and functional beauty of the orchestra is breathtaking. The "No. 9" - Two recordings from 50 years with the Berlin Philharmonic (a live recording of the subscription concert on January 30 and a broadcast recording of the two previous days' rehearsals). Audite released them on CD in 2011, but prior to this (1997 and 2001), Thala had also procured the recordings from German broadcasters and made them available on CD. This is a valuable disc featuring the rich and full-bodied expression of Kuna, who loved the revised version. The "No. 8" is a solemn, honest, dynamic, vigorous, and powerful Bruckner performance that may even surpass the Westminster version he conducted with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in 1963. The Berlin Philharmonic, trained during the Furtwängler era, is outstanding. The Berliner Philharmoniker, trained in the Furtwängler era, is outstanding in its performance of the "No. 3" with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1962.Although the ensemble is a bit disjointed due to guest appearances, the power with which the orchestra pushes forward with unrestrained abandon is indeed a rare and precious recording. The "Wagner Album" - A concert in Hamburg in 1963 with a program full of masterpieces. Especially "Brünnhilde's Self-Sacrifice" is often performed alone as the closing music of "Ring," but this is the only concert recording of Kuhna's performance, and is therefore very valuable. Ludwig's singing with all his heart and soul is also truly magnificent. King International
