Latvian violinist Magdalena Geka (b.1992) has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in European concert halls, including London's Wigmore Hall. in the fall of 2014, she made her debut with the Latvian Symphony Orchestra, making her name known to Latvian audiences Latvian audiences. Her debut album. She performs four "Violin Sonatas" by Einfelde, one of Latvia's most celebrated female composers. Maija Einfelde (b.1939) was taught music by her mother, a church organist, and went on to Alfredo Karninš Music School, Jaseps Medinš Music College, and studied composition with Jánis Ivanovs at the Latvian Academy of Music from 1966. His main works for chorus and chamber music were the chamber oratorio "At the Edge of the Earth," composed on poems by Aeschylus, which won first prize in the Barlow Composition Competition in 1997. His "Violin Sonata No. 1" was written for Indulis Suna and Irga Suna.The "Violin Sonata No. 2," which includes a Latvian folk song as a motif, and two other pieces were composed for Jánis Brahms, whom she describes as "an amazing violinist, a true musical warrior. They are performed by Yveta Tsarite, who was born in Riga and studied with Stefan Beusten and Mats Wiedlund at the Royal Stockholm School of Music. Tokyo M-Plus
