With the 2024 relaunch of VOWWOW bringing renewed attention to the “B” and “V” lineages, this 1998 release, *BACK*, which marked a crucial turning point in the band’s history, is finally making its return. The highlight of this album is that the three original members—Kyoji Yamamoto (G/Vo), Mitsuhiro Saito (G/Vo), and Toshihiro Niimi (Ds)—have sincerely revisited “their own songs from the past” after their respective careers and reconstructed them with matured techniques. Early classics like “GetOnOurTrain” and “Heart’s On Fire” are vividly revived with the robust sound and powerful ensemble characteristic of the late ’90s. In particular, "GetOnOurTrain" features original bassist Kenji Sano—who had already retired at the time—participating as "CRAZYVOICE," making this a deeply moving album for fans as a record of the moment when the souls of the four members resonated once again. In addition to three new songs from that era, this reissue includes the rare track “Sunset Rider” by Kyoji Yamamoto, originally provided for the PlayStation game “R,” as a bonus track. Long out of print, this track is filled with a sense of exhilaration that embodies the game’s theme of “the fusion of music and sports.” More than just a collection of remakes, this release captures the process of reclaiming lost time and reestablishing the band’s identity.
