Cantata No. 53, performed by Rudolf Lutz and the Bach Foundation Orchestra. Cantata No. 128 was performed in Leipzig on Ascension Day in 1725. Based on a libretto by C.M. von Ziegler, this work explores the theme of the faithful’s hope in the face of Jesus’ absence. Cantata No. 199 is a solo cantata for soprano that premiered on August 12, 1714, the 11th Sunday after Trinity. Composed of eight movements, it is an early masterpiece by Bach featuring alternating introspective recitatives and arias based on a text by Riem. Cantata No. 134 is a cantata for the third day of Easter, premiered in Leipzig on April 11, 1724. It was adapted from a secular cantata (BWV 134a) originally composed for New Year’s celebrations during Bach’s time in Köthen. After several revisions, including the removal of certain movements and the addition of new recitatives, the final version was completed around 1735.
