Kaspars Putniņs、Swedish Radio Choir

Description:

The Swedish Radio Choir celebrates its 100th anniversary with an album of the greatest century of Swedish choral music performed at a higher level than ever before. The Swedish Radio Choir will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. A new album will be released to commemorate the occasion. The title is taken from the final scene of Dante's "Divine Comedy," and the album is a collection of Swedish choral music from the 20th century onward, a look back at the past and an expression of ambition for the future. Conductor Kaspars Putninsh, a choral expert who has served as artistic director of the Latvian Radio Choir and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, is the artistic director of the Swedish Radio Choir from 2020. He is also committed to performing new works, and has an extraordinary passion for contemporary Swedish works in particular. The 12 pieces on this recording are rich in variety, showing the flexibility, diversity, and openness of the Swedish Radio Choir. The works of Vidane, Werle, Edlund, and Readholm are based on the older secular and religious vocal traditions of Gregorian chant and madrigals, using clear melodic lines and harmony, while interweaving modern techniques such as glissandos and whispered voices to create a sound that is at once familiar and new. Anders Hilleborg, Anders Hilleborg The works of Anders Hillborg, Britta Büström, and Johannes Pollack are more advanced and thrilling, exploring the human voice and its possibilities from all angles. Three works by Staffan Sturm, Ulrika Emanuelsson, and Anna-Karlyn Krokkar were written to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Swedish Romantic composer Alveen. Arne Lundmark and Jan Sandström each present a unique vision by adapting and extending existing folk and religious music. This is a SACD hybrid disc release. Naxos Japan
