The first CD release of Bernard Haitink's Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2012, commemorating the 65th anniversary of Haitink's appearance with the orchestra, is now available. To commemorate the 65th anniversary of his debut with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1958, Bernard Haitink will perform Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 from 2012 for the first time on CD. The 1965 recording of Haitink's Bruckner Symphony No. 4 was a dramatic interpretation with a large contrast between the slow and fast movements, but since the 1985 recording, the interpretation has been stable, showing that the interpretation has matured. This disc is a performance that places emphasis on the finale and builds a complex of sound toward it. The rather dry acoustics of the Gasthaig concert hall are a blessing here, and even the climax of the piece maintains its resolution. The Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra has a long tradition of Bruckner performances dating back to the days of its founding conductor Jochum, and since 2005 its then chief conductor Jansons has continued to perform Bruckner's symphonies.Meanwhile, Gasteich is also the home of the Munich Philharmonic, and the audience was familiar with the Bruckner interpretations of Celibidacke and Thielemann. Under such circumstances, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra gave its best performance under the direction of Haitink, who knew the music well and portrayed the majesty of the work in a naturalistic manner.
