The long-awaited recording of the complete works by Niquet and leading singers of the French classical music world! The French composer Marin Marais, renowned for his unparalleled virtuosity on the viol, was also active as an opera conductor in the royal orchestra, and in 1693 he composed "Alcide (Hercule's Victory)" in collaboration with his son Louis Lully, who succeeded Jean-Baptiste Lully as director general of the royal music, Hervé Nicquet, who has a solid record of reviving French operas from the 18th century and earlier, is highly acclaimed for his operatic writing skills. This long-awaited project will allow us to experience "Ariane et Bacchus" in its entirety, an important work that marked the beginning of Marais' career as an opera composer after the death of Lully, but which has never been recorded in its entirety. The story of Bacchus, the god of wine, who approaches Ariane, who is saddened by the departure of her Minotaur-slaying lover Theseus, is dynamically presented in this masterpiece that predates the works of Roussel, who also excited Paris by more than 130 years.The title role is vividly sung by Veronique Jans, Matthias Vidal, who has been overwhelmingly active in the world of French opera in the 21st century, and Juan Van Looy, who has been remarkably active in the world of French opera.
