Mikko Frank and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (Ochestra Philharmonique de Radio France) present an interesting album of Stravinsky's works in three different styles. Following the "Concerto for Piano and Winds" (1920), "Capriccio" is the second piano concerto completed in 1929 with strings and other instruments. In the 1920s, Stravinsky placed great importance on wind instruments, and the "Octet" completed in 1923 was written with a rather special composition of mixed woodwinds and brass, lacking oboes and horns. The Octet, completed in 1923, is a mixed woodwind and brass piece, lacking oboes and horns. The masterpiece "The Rite of Spring" was written for the Ballets Russes in 1910, but Mikko Franck never overplayed the large-scale orchestration, but instead, through a deep reading of the score and crisp rhythmic treatment, was able to capture the work's madness and narrative.
