Elizabeth Lutchence is a modern British composer. She aspired to be a composer from an early age, and after studying at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris in 1922, she studied at the Royal College of Music in London from 1926 to 1930. She is regarded as a composer who created modern music supported by a rich spirit of exploration, for example, by adopting her own serie form, which developed from the twelve-tone technique, and by creating music with only a few notes, without favoring thick sounds. This album contains piano pieces written during the last decade of her life, including world premiere recordings. The music is mysterious, with both thoughtful and delicate sounds, and dark and violent. Performed by veteran player Martin Jones. Naxos Japan
