The Prestin Music Festival has been held in Radnorshire, Wales since 1982. The festival, which has a history of nearly 40 years, was started by music lovers, including local composer Adrian Williams, with the aim of promoting contemporary music and supporting young artists as well as composers. Since its inception, the festival has been known as one of the most popular summer events in Wales, offering a wide variety of concerts. In its early years, the festival presented works by British composers, but in 1993, conductor George Vass was appointed artistic director, and from the following year, the repertoire was expanded by establishing an artist-in-residence program, and in 2006, the festival performed a work by Petris Vasks for the first time. 2020 Music Festival was cancelled, but with the help of supporters, the first "Digital Music Festival" was realized. This album includes the variations by eight composers on the theme of the folk song "Lovely Joan," and other pieces from the festival. Naxos Japan
