Description:
Andreas Romberg was a German composer. A violinist since childhood, Lomberg gained fame through tours in Paris, Vienna, Prague, and Italy, and from 1790 he was a member of the court orchestra in Bonn, where he met the young Beethoven. Although today he is regarded primarily as a composer of violin works, he also wrote ten symphonies. In 1817, the famous German music newspaper "Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung" ranked him on the same level as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, but he was gradually forgotten and only four of his works were printed during his lifetime.
