Lully, who was a highly respected music director at the French court in the 17th century, recorded music for two plays by Molière and Quinault, two of the greatest playwrights of the 17th century. In both plays, Lully's music is interspersed in between the progress of the story as a play, and only the musical parts for these plays are included in this album. It is a rare opportunity to hear a rare work that has not been performed very often recorded by a group of French old instruments at the Palace of Versailles, which was closely associated with the royal family at the time of its premiere. The "Cave of Versailles" is a story about a man-made cave in the palace, with a libretto by the poet Philippe Quinault, who worked with Lully to produce many masterpieces, and "Georges Dandin" is a comedy in which the hero, an upstart, is pushed around by his smart but unfaithful young wife, with a libretto by popular writer The script was written by the popular writer Molière.
